With the latest version, Canon have added new aspect ratios, a new control dial on the front of the camera body and the ability to change the ISO dial in finer 1/3 increments. It also includes an electronic level function to check whether the horizon is even or not.
On top of this the G12 has a high definition 720p movie mode which includes stereo sound recording.
The Canon G12 is little too large to fit inside your pocket but it comes with a shoulder strap to make it easy to carry around. It also includes a battery pack and charger, as well as an AV cable, USB cable and software CD-Rom.
